Accounting and Bookkeeping YouTube Channels

Whether you’re an accounting student looking for a resource to help you study for an exam, an intern at an accounting or bookkeeping firm, or a veteran accounting or bookkeeping professional, watching YouTube videos is an excellent way to learn new information, refresh yourself on key material, or expose yourself to the intricacies of your industry. It’s important to find insight from a variety of resources, no matter what stage of your career you’re at, and while blogs, podcasts, and books are also notable resources, YouTube channels are often overlooked, especially in the accounting and bookkeeping industries. But there are so many accounting videos to sort through, which makes finding the perfect channel a struggle sometimes.

At Uncat, we’ve gathered a list of 9 channels that offer accounting or bookkeeping lessons, lectures, and advice on the industry. These channels not only provide genuine, high-quality information but allow you to engage with the industry and with others in the industry who share the same passions as you do. Pull up a chair, and start reading (hopefully watching, too)!

Else Grech Accounting

Else Grech Accounting is a fantastic YouTube channel that highlights lessons fit for both newcomers and experienced veterans in the accounting field.

Else Grech is an accounting professor and began in June 2014, which has grown in popularity to reach over 24.8K subscribers and nearly 2 million views. With this level of experience, you’re guaranteed high-quality content. Plus, Else uploads videos typically every month or, if you’re lucky, multiple times a month, so you won’t be short on content.

In terms of focus, Else primarily aims to help students master accounting—both financial and managerial—from introduction to expert videos. Her videos are categorized within modules, like any professor would, so her videos do aim to instruct accounting students but can be applied to anyone in the accounting world. These videos explain the technical aspects of accounting and the reasoning behind the concepts so students understand why accounting concepts work the way they do—which is often key to truly comprehending and appreciating anything.

Else’s channel also features resources (flow charts, demo questions) to help students prepare for exams. Some example videos/concepts include ethics in managerial accounting, cash budgeting, the importance of financial accounting, accountants receivable, adjusting entries, and more.

Farhat’s Accounting Lectures

Farhat’s Accounting Lectures is a YouTube channel that started in November 2006, and Farhat still uploads new free videos to the channel with 161K subscribers and over 1,500 videos uploaded to this day, showing how dedicated Farhat is to teaching others about accounting and sharing his passion for the industry.

His videos include lectures that cover topics typically found in college-level accounting classes—from financial, managerial, intermediate, and advanced accounting. The videos break down complex concepts for accounting students, especially those who learn at a slower pace or have struggled with the basics/fundamentals. Most of the videos range from 5 minutes to hour-long sessions, so you can find something brief or more in-depth, depending on your schedule. Additionally, his videos teach study techniques and provide resources that assist accounting students but can be applied to other areas of study as well. Even better, some of the videos are streamed so viewers can watch, ask questions, and receive answers in real-time,

Some example videos and content include CPA Exam Practice Questions, Audit tests, accounts payable, consolidation accounting, cost accounting, and more.

CPA Strength

CPA Strength is a great resource for newcomers and accounting students as well as professionals in the field because this YouTube channel’s videos cover a wide variety of topics—from educational accounting information to inspirational and uplifting. So, whether you’re looking for strictly informative accounting concepts or advice or perspective on being an accountant and how it’s possible to succeed and maintain a well-rounded lifestyle as an accountant, this channel has it all (and has over 200K subscribers!).

Some videos cover CPA exam guidelines, materials, and advice on specific sections like REG (regulation) or FAR (financial accounting and reporting). Other videos cover Accounting basics, outlining and breaking down the fundamentals, and other videos are more power-lifting, such as the Monday Motivation Videos or workout routines, and advice-oriented for when you become an accountant. We love this channel’s all-encompassing content.

Friday Night Live With Accountants

Technically, this video segment doesn’t have its own YouTube channel, but it is accessible from a live stream from their FaceBook Group or on Hector Garcia’s Channel

Friday Night Live With Accountants focuses on general industry trends from experienced, well-known industry leaders. Pretty much anything you can think of, this segment has covered it at some point. It’s an entertaining segment full of witty and sharp conversations, with the occasional dad jokes, about the accounting industry. After a long week at the office (whether your office at home or elsewhere), you can crack open a drink, grab a snack, settle in on your couch, and join this riveting and engaging conversation.

Hector Garcia

Hector Garcia’s YouTube channel is your go-to resource regarding technology and software—primarily focusing on Intuit products. However, Hector doesn’t hesitate to approach other accounting topics, as he has general knowledge of the accounting industry that you can learn a lot from.  This channel is a great resource for new accountants or bookkeepers in QuickBooks Online. With Hector’s 10+ years of prolific experience working with small business bookkeeping, finance, and accounting, if you have any issues or questions, Hector likely has the answer or solution.

Mark Wickersham

Mark Wickersham’s YouTube channel is best for new bookkeeping professionals looking to develop and build their business. Some of his best videos pertain to pricing and determining your practice’s value, so if you're questioning what to charge or if you need to change what you charge for your practice, Mark’s channel is a must-have resource. The channel also uploads videos that incorporate trends within the bookkeeping and accounting industry and real-time information—such as price forecasting, secrets to success, and personal success stories from real accountants—to prepare you and your business for success with your first or new clients.

The Accounting Student

While most accounting or bookkeeping channels are driven by experienced CPAs, professors, or experts in the accounting or bookkeeping industry, The Accounting Student is a YouTube channel led by a former honors student who wants to help viewers feel confident and prepared for their exams and understanding confusing concepts. This channel’s videos are easy to fit into your day—only around 4 minutes long. And while it’s targeted toward students, professors or experienced accounting professionals can still view and utilize these videos as well. While it hasn’t been updated in a while, the information in the uploaded videos is still worth looking at.

Some of the topics The Accounting Student covers include a double-entry system, cash flow statement, accrual versus cash accounting, and more.

The Accounting Professor

Unlike the Accounting Student, The Accounting Professor is a YouTube channel led by Bennet Tchaikovsky, JDA, CPA, and accounting professor who has worked in higher up, senior financial accounting roles

This YouTube channel takes a deeper dive into accounting, as the videos require more time, focus, and concentration to watch and understand. The videos cover topics like the CPA exam process, Tchaikovsky’s personal experience preparing for the exam and working as an accountant, as well as standard accounting concepts like current liabilities and activity-based costing.

What we love about this channel is how often the videos draw from Intermediate Accounting, an accounting book we recommended in our insert name of blog here by accounting industry leaders Kieso, Weygandt, and Warfield, so you’re sure to receive quality information from these videos.

Conclusion

These aren’t the only accounting channels or videos available on YouTube or the internet, so don’t limit yourself to this list. However, these 9 channels illustrate a blend of accounting and bookkeeping tips, skills, knowledge, advice, and personal stories—so you’re never short on material or content that could benefit you or your business.
